This is a story about a journey to the United States of America, especially to California, in mid-1999: four weeks by car from Los Angeles to San Francisco...

The journey was undertaken by my wife and me, Marcus Döring. The remarks given will thus be biased by some young folks.

As it was our first trip to California, even to the U.S., together, we were looking forward whether one of the best known American regions really kept what the term America promised. Would it be the state of convenience as a friend of us usually calls it?
